A 95-year-old World War II veteran took a ride in a historic WACO Airplane Saturday afternoon during the WACO Fly-In.

Chester Wrzos of New Jersey was training to become a pilot in the Army Air Corp, but ended up as an aircraft mechanic in 1942.

He said he enjoyed the opportunity for his 25-minute flight circling the city of Troy, along with taking off and landing on a grass runway.

The annual WACO Fly-In continues through Sunday and is open to the public at the WACO Field located on the south edge of Troy on County Road 25A.
