Carlson was sworn in today, according to dispatchers, and has served as interim chief since January 23 following the resignation of Dave Hale.

Hale left the department in January following a New Year’s Eve altercation that left several people injured.
Carlson intends to continue his "pro-local policing methods" while in his leading role at the department, according to a release on the department's Facebook page.
