The academy officially opened its doors in late September. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for 1:30 p.m., Nov. 3.
“We gutted the entire space,” Stabio said.
Renovations included new plumbing, electrical work, as well as drywall, paint and fixtures, Allison Stabio said.
In addition to a new walled-off outdoor playground with artificial turf that quickly soaks-up water, the owners also created what they call an indoor “busy city”.
“It is an indoor mock town that gives the children a place to practice their large gross skills and to participate in dramatic play,” Stabio said.
Retired Dayton Public Schools principal Patti Daggett serves as the director of Youthland Academy, which employs seven other teachers. Twenty-three students are now enrolled, and the school has the capacity to serve 120 children, ages six months to 12.
“We wanted to be able to provide a child care facility that is more than just baby sitting,” Stabio said. “We offer a safe and caring environment, as well as curriculum-based program that is aimed at getting children ready for that ultimate goal of school and education for life.”
The company is based Cincinnati, with locations in Kentucky and Florida. For more information, call (937) 859-5437, or go to www.youthlandacademy.com.
