Man arrested for marijuana, loaded handgun

Police arrested a man early this morning after marijuana and a loaded handgun were found in his vehicle.

Maury Scott Sr., 47, was pulled over by police for several traffic violations in the area of Kensington Drive and Harvard Boulevard around 4:30 a.m. today, according to a Dayton police report. Officers could smell burnt marijuana coming from the car, and asked Scott, who said he did not have a valid driver’s license, to exit the vehicle.

Scott told officers he had a small joint in the ashtray, as well as a loaded .22 revolver in the vehicle that he had “for safety delivering papers.” The suspect said he found the gun in an old drug house about seven years ago.

The suspect completed a statement regarding the handgun. He remains in jail today.
