Man in custody after high-speed chase in Huber Heights

A man is in custody after a high-speed chase in Huber Heights.

Huber Heights police said they tried pulling over the man, who was driving a white Impala, for traffic violations when he sped off. The car traveled south down Old Troy Pike. The car started going so fast that the responding officer lost sight of it and stopped the pursuit.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office later found the car at a home near Peach Tree and Hillcrest avenues in Harrison Twp., where they saw a man leave the house and get into the car.

According to Huber Heights Sgt. David Garlow, authorities believe the person who got into the car is the person who instigated the high speed chase. Police found that he had felony warrants for his arrest and the man was taken into custody.

Huber Heights police did not identify the man; however, Montgomery County Jail records show that 20-year-old Darius Lamont Chambers was arrested in the 4700 block of Hillcrest Avenue in Harrison Twp. by Huber Heights police. Chambers was booked into the jail on suspicion of fleeing or eluding, a felony, and misdemeanors of driving without a license, speeding and for excessive window tint.
