Mass Transportation Benefit Program info sessions scheduled

The Mass Transportation Benefit Program makes it possible for Wright-Patterson Air Force Base employees/military members to be funded actual expenses per month up to a maximum of $255 per month for utilizing public transportation to travel to and from work.

The program is open to all civilian employees (both those paid from appropriated funds and those paid from non-appropriated funds), military members and members of reserve components serving on active duty. Contractor employees are not eligible for funding but are allowed to participate in established vanpools.

Registration and participation in the program are fairly simple. An eligible employee/military member, adhering to all governing program rules and regulations, who is interested in participation via public transportation submits an application package through the automated Transerve system, www.transitapp.ost.dot.gov.

The program is paid in the form of a Transerve debit card that is funded directly through the Department of Transportation. Members receive their debit cards from the program manager after signing for them. The participant then establishes payment with the provided debit card to the vanpool owner for payment or uses it at the Greater Dayton RTA facilities for their monthly passes. Enterprise is the current vanpool “owner” that is used in our area. Greene CATS users will receive vouchers which are sent directly to Greene CATS on a quarterly basis. Those participants will be issued tokens through Greene CATs.

While vanpools qualify for this program, please note that carpools do not meet the criteria for reimbursement under this program.

To promote awareness of the program and how it works, base officials will host several informative sessions for those that may desire to obtain more specifics regarding this program. As business partnerships with Enterprise Rideshare, they will be addressing most questions and concerns pertaining to MTBP vanpools.

These informative sessions will be held at the Civilian Personnel Office, Bldg. 2 (Multi-Purpose Room), Area A, 2000 Allbrook Drive, on Sept. 25 from 9 to 11 a.m. and Oct. 2 from 1 to 3 p.m. Transportation to and from the information sessions will be not provided. It will be the responsibility of those attending to ensure transportation at their expense, which is not a reimbursable expense.

To ensure attendance, please contact Shawnetta White, program manager at Wright-Patterson AFB, to reserve your seat. She may be reached directly at 937-904-3272 or via email at shawnetta.white@us.af.mil.
