Plans for new Austin Landing retail space, outdoor plaza win OK

UPDATE @ 8:02 p.m.: An outdoor plaza is planned as part of a new retail building at Austin Landing.

Both developments would be next to Field & Stream near The Park, according to the developer for the 142-acre complex.

A tenant for the 12,550-square-foot retail site should be announced soon, said Larry Dillin, president of VisCap Development.

The 2,000-square-foot plaza would provide “better connectivity” to nearby restaurants and bars, Dillin said Tuesday night.

Plans for the building and plaza were approved Tuesday night by the Miami Twp. Zoning Commission. The plans are set to go before township trustees next week.

A plan to build a 12,550-square-foot building next to Field & Stream in Austin Landing is set to be reviewed by a Miami Twp. board tonight.

Developers of the 142-acre mixed use complex have yet to comment on what business is proposed for the site, as well as other details.

Approval is being sought on a 32 feet, six inches tall building “that is connected to Field & Stream,” according the agenda for the township’s zoning commission.

Records submitted to the township indicate a tenant plans to locate there by mid-February 2019.

“The existing streets and driveways on the site of the proposed development are adequate to serve the residents or occupants of the proposed development,” according to documents submitted on the proposal by Larry Dillin, president of VisCap Development, which manages Austin Landing.
