Police Seek Help In Dayton Homicide

Police in Dayton are trying to figure where and why a man was fatally stabbed in the neck early Friday morning.

Investigators said this is the city’s 34th homicide of the year, and they are working hard to try and solve it.

John Morgan Jr., 36, was found dead Friday morning on Grand Avenue. Officers said he is known to police, but they don’t know who killed him and why.

Sgt. Gary White said, “We have no idea right now what led up to our victim being stabbed.”

Police said Morgan walked about a block for the suspected original crime scene and pounded on a door for help. Those who lived at the residence called 911, but it was too late.

One man who lives in the area said, “”It’s said to see a crime happen in a quiet neighborhood and it’s sad to see a victim is dead and gone in a neighborhood that is trying to be cleaned up.”

Officers said the victim was known to the area, but had no permanent address.

White said, “Trying to find out who may have wanted to hurt him. This may be a random act of violence as well.”
