What makes the business stand out: With 30 courts available to members at its two locations, KTC Quail Tennis Club offers is the largest tennis club in Ohio. They are known for their skill at assessing new player strengths and the appropriate placement to build on those strengths.
Despite the size of the tennis club, KTC is unique for the family environment fostered by employees who have worked for the business for 20 years and who are there to greet members as they arrive.
How the business started: The Kettering Tennis Center was built in 1972 at a time when the sport of tennis was becoming increasingly popular. By 1974, a group of KTC members dissatisfied with the increasing membership and limited court time, broke away and built the Quail Run facility in Sugarcreek Twp. The two clubs merged in 1984 and in 1995 were sold to Club members, Jack, now deceased, and Linda Heinz. The Club is currently managed by brothers, Darrin Heinz and JP Heinz, with help from JP's wife, Sandy Heinz, and son, Jackson; and Darrin's two children, Rachel and Wyatt, who assist with coaching.
Customer comment: "We've been members for 20 years and we've always felt like it was our second home, because we're so close and connected to the staff and other members," said Washington Twp. resident Vida McDowell.
Contact information: Both locations are open 7 a.m. – 10 p.m. Visit the KTC Quail Tennis Club website at www.ktcquail.com, or contact this business by email: darrin@ktcquail.com; or by phone: 937-434-4082.
