Retired police chief keeping deputy mayor title in West Carrollton

A retired West Carrollton police chief recently re-elected to city council is keeping the title of deputy mayor.

Rick Barnhart on Tuesday night was unanimously reappointed by council to the position, which he first assumed in January 2016. The vote came after Barnhart joined three new council members in being sworn in.

In November he was chosen by West Carrollton voters for a second four-year term on council. He was first elected in November 2013, shortly after retiring as chief of the city’s police department, where he served for more than 30 years.

Newly-elected council members Leanne Nash, Harold Robinson and Amanda Zenne were also sworn in Tuesday night. They replace Jim Bowers, Jim Folker and Patrick Merris, all of whom did seek re-election last fall.
