A park spokeswoman said the teen scaled two 6-foot fences around the Batman roller coaster when he was struck by the coaster and killed.
No one is sure why he jumped the fence, but some witnesses said it appeared he was trying to retrieve something he had dropped or was trying to touch the ride.
None of the passengers onboard the ride were injured.
Local police and park officials are investigating.
