A local resident whose British accent gets plenty of attention in Xenia will be among the large television audience for the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

The wedding will take place at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle with 600 guests to witness the couple exchange vows.

In February, the Dayton Daily News interviewed Sylvia Kellner after she received a reply to the congratulatory card she sent to Kensington Palace, which Prince Harry and Markle call home.

After the story published, Kellner received a second, more personal note of gratitude from the Palace.

“When the envelope comes, hun, I can’t believe it. It was fantastic,” said Kellner, who immigrated from England to the United States in 1955 after meeting her late husband, U.S. Airman Russell Kellner.

The note from Kensington Palace reads: “Prince Harry and Miss Markle were incredibly touched that you took the trouble to write as you did in connection with the forthcoming wedding. It really was most thoughtful of you and greatly appreciated. His Royal Highness and Miss Markle send you their warmest thanks and very best wishes.”

“Isn’t it neat?” Kellner said. “Someone said, ‘Well, how did you know where to send it?’ Well, they live at Kensington Palace. I’ve been to Windsor, and it’s gorgeous. I’m blessed completely.”

The 83-year-old collects various memorabilia from her native country and enjoys sharing the correspondences she has received over the years from British royalty.

Kellner said she plans to wake at 4:30 a.m. today and watch the royal wedding on television all day.
