The boy was hit in the leg by a bullet that bored through the walls of a house in the 1100 block of Dennison Avenue in Dayton. Police said at the time they believed the shooting to be retaliation for another shooting earlier the same afternoon that left a man dead.

A boy was shot in the neck with a stolen gun and pedaled his bicycle home after the shooting in Piqua that was ruled accidental by police. The boy was in the home of Levi Harrison in the 500 block of Gordon Street. “They were handling the firearm recklessly” when it fired, said Police Chief Bruce Jamison.
The boy was treated at Dayton Children’s Hospital, and Harrison was booking into the Miami County Jail on suspicion of felonious assault.
Elijah Johnson was shot and killed in January, 2016.

Johnson was in the arms of an armed adult when he was killed in a drive-by shooting. One witness said the boy was used as a human shield. Shawn D. Smith Jr. was convicted of murder in the toddler’s death and other charges for the shooting that also injured Isaiah Smith and Diana Hicks.
Christine Walker with her grandson Maleki Parker, 5. Maleki was shot on Saturday, Nov. 7, as he played in his family’s living room. At least 10 bullets were fired from the street, striking the house at 44 E. Bruce Ave. and injuring Maleki. He died at 6:10 p.m. Monday at Dayton Children’s Hospital after his family asked that he be removed from life support, according to the Montgomery County Coroner s Office. Dayton police said they are continuing their investigation.

The 5-year-old was playing in his living room when he was shot in a drive-by-style shooting. He died two days later in the hospital. Illegal drug activity was also suspected in the drive-by-style shooting. Officers confiscated ammunition, handguns, clothing and drug paraphernalia from the home where he was shot. Maleki’s family asked that he be removed from life support.

Green was strapped in car seat on Christmas Eve in 2015 when he was struck in the head with a bullet shot by a man fighting with another. Green survived. Nickolai Gray Jr. was sentenced to seven years for his guilty pleas to charges of felonious assault with a deadly weapon, discharge of a firearm over a public roadway and having a weapon as a felon.
