Perry, who began with the department in April 2014, was recognized as the department’s 2018 Employee of the Year last week after being nominated separately by three fellow officers, according to the city.

Police Chief Doug Woodard said that Perry consistently distinguishes himself by completing his duties “in an unassuming manor, never attempting to draw attention to himself or his accomplishments.”
Woodard cited four different suspicious vehicle stops that occurred in 2018 and resulted in multiple arrests for active warrants, as well as the recovery of drugs such as heroin, LSD and methamphetamine, stolen guns, other weapons, and more than $5,000.
Perry serves as a field training officer, an officer in charge when a shift sergeant is unavailable, and consistently leads the department categories such as OVI arrests and other categories such as weapons and drug seizures, according to the city.

He completed 43 OVI arrests in 2018, and participated in six additional OVI arrests while serving as the training officer.
Woodard said fellow officers recognized Perry for his positive attitude, leading by example, and putting in 460 hours of overtime during the year.
