No injuries reported after explosion, vehicle fire spreads to 2 homes in Dayton

No injuries were reported in an explosion and vehicle fire spread to two homes in Dayton Monday morning.

The cause of the explosion and fire are still under investigation, said Dayton Fire Department District Chief Adam Landis said.

When crews arrived on scene at the 800 block of Burleigh Avenue they found that the fire had spread to two home.

“We extinguished both of the houses that were on fire and the car fire,” Landis said.

Firefighters searched the homes and did not find anyone inside. However, Landis noted that there were a lot of people outside, so it is not clear if anyone was inside when the fire and explosion were first reported.

While snowy roads can slow down the department’s response, Landis said the cold wasn’t bothering crews Monday morning.

“The snow hampers us a little bit just because of the road conditions,” he said.

We will continue to update this story as more information is released.
