5 ways to say goodbye to summer

The leaves are about to change, Pumpkin Spiced Lattes are here, and Halloween decorations are on display at local stores. This all points to one thing- fall.

The Autumnal Equinox, the official first day of fall, is in just a few weeks on Sept. 22. However, before breaking out the sweaters and mums, here are a few things to do before fall is here:

Zip through the trees. Those looking for an outdoor adventure near Dayton should check out Markin Farms Zipline Adventures. The 90-acre farm in West Chester offers a 13-zip canopy tour for those 7 and older. The facility also offers a Junior Zipline course for this between the ages of 2-6.

Go back in time. At the Ohio Renaissance Festival transport yourself back in time to a 16th century English village. With more than 150 artisans and nearly 100 shows daily, including full-armored jousting and a human combat chess match, the 30-acre permanant village will have something for everyone.

Get on the newest ride at Kings Island. If you are yet to ride the newest ride at Kings Island amusement park, Mystic Timbers, you still have the chance. Kings Island started its fall schedule on Aug. 18, which will go until Sept. 3, and then the schedule once again changes to accommodate Halloween Haunt weekends.

Hike the Buckeye Trail. Grab a group of friends and hike part of the 1,400 mile trail that follows the perimeter of Ohio. The trail passes through both Xenia and into Yellow Spring's Glen Helen.

Day of fun at Coney Island. Enjoy rides and entertainment for all ages at Hamilton County's Coney Island. The park offers visitors the chance to enjoy thrilling rides, water recreation, and miniature golf.
