Ex-Wife Of Trotwood Officer Sentenced In Shooting Death

A woman accused of killing her ex-husband appeared in court on Thursday and made a plea agreement.

Nicole Ballenger’s trial was set to begin next week. However, she pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 18 years in jail.

Ballenger was charged with felonious assault and involuntary manslaughter.

Last April, Ballenger, who is a mother of six, shot and killed her ex-husband, Cedric Ballenger. He was a Trotwood police officer.

The couple was divorced but still shared a home in Dayton at the time. In her 911 call, she claimed to have been abused prior to the shooting.
