During a recent visit to Cobblestone Village Cafe, Home Interiors ad Gifts, 10 N. Main St. in downtown Waynesville, two servers independently suggested I give the crepes a try.
The dish — a mainstay at the restaurant just purchased by Keith and Dee Alexander's commercial properties company — did not disappoint. Neither did the look of the eatery's mismatched dining room.
Like many best dishes, the savory mushroom ragu crepes are simple.

The crepes ($14) were light with a slight egg taste. They came stuffed with roasted wild mushrooms seasoned with herbs and a provolone cheese and cream.

The sophisticated dish is topped with asparagus and dressed with truffle oil and balsamic vinegar.

It is a vegetarian dish normally, but Mindy Andrews, Cobblestone’s manager, said many customers also order them with chicken.

I ordered mine with bacon for $2 more.
“You can’t go wrong with bacon,” Andrews, an employee for about a year, told me.
Other varieties of crepes are sometimes featured on the menu.

Beside the restaurant, Cobblestone has a wine shop and gift shop filled with candles, lotions, jewelry and home decor.
We almost bought a lion head.
