Area boys basketball players to watch

The following are the top returning area boys high school basketball players:

Division I

• Danny Davis, Springfield, 6-3, sr., 19.5 points; the area’s best two-way threat (football and basketball).

• Andre Gordon, Sidney, 6-1, so., 13.1; will be key is fully recovered from a season-ending football injury.

• Darius Quisenberry, Wayne, 5-10, jr., 22.4; high-scoring Tecumseh transfer who must sit out the first 11 games.

• Keegan Saben, Centerville, 6-3, sr., 17.8; became the Elks’ leader after transferring from Alter.

• L’Christian “Blue” Smith, Wayne, 6-5, jr., 14.7; the Warriors’ only returning starter.

• Ray James, Wayne, 6-0, sr., 17.7; was All-GWOC at Xenia last season. Immediately eligible because he transferred last spring.

Division II

• Devon Baker, Dunbar, 6-2, jr., 11.6; best of the returning Wolverines.

• Amari Davis, Trotwood-Madison, 6-4, so., 16.1; a smooth presence with a great outside shot.

• Dominic Laravie, Alter, 6-6, sr., 15.8; rugged inside player.

• Christian Montague, Chaminade Julienne, 6-0, sr., 14.1; area’s best guard if he’s fully recovered from a knee injury.

• Torrey Patton, Trotwood-Madison, 6-4, sr., 21.1; unstoppable around the basketball.

• T.K. Robinson, Carroll, 5-11, jr., 9.6; Patriots continue to evolve since Tim Coogan took over as head coach.

• Floyd Scott, Ponitz, 6-4, sr., 23.2; instant offense for new coach Steve Pittman.

Division III

• Justin Ahrens, Versailles, 6-5, jr., 22.7; committed to Ohio State.

• Caleb South, Bethel, 6-0, jr., 25.0; need just three points to reach 1,000 for his career.

• Kannon Stillings, West Liberty-Salem, 5-9, sr., 15.8; one of OHC’s leading returning scorers.

• Ethan Bradds, Greeneview, 6-5, sr., 16.7; great inside presence.

• Daulton Stewart, Brookville, 6-1, sr., 14.9; among the top returning scorers in the SWBL.

Division IV

• Nathan Lessing, Fairlawn, 6-2, sr., 28.3; has a shot at averaging 30 points.

• Andrew Lyons, Southeastern, 6-4, sr., 15.8; good inside game for the Trojans.

• Brady Wildermuth, Jackson Center, 6-6, sr., 18.5; outstanding inside game, signed with Findlay.

• Dillon Braun, Fort Loramie, 6-1, jr., 13.4; good backcourt presence.

• Gavin Richards, Tri-Village, 6-1, sr., 17.0; only starter remaining from 2015 title team.
