Coldwater routed Minford 11-0 in five innings Thursday in a Division III state semifinal at Huntington Park, reaching the state championship game for the first time since 2014.

The Cavaliers (27-6) will play Cincinnati Madeira or Canfield South Range at 1 p.m. Saturday. Cole Frilling will start the final game for Coldwater.

Coldwater scored five runs in the first, three in the second, two in the third and one in the fourth against Minford (24-3), which was making its first state appearance. The Falcons committed four errors. Seven of the runs were unearned.
Brad Giere pitched a shutout for Coldwater. He allowed two hits and walked one. He struck out two.
Sam Broering went 3-for-3. Alex Wourms and Seth Miller each drove in two runs. Jake Wenning walked twice and scored two runs. Jack Muhlenkamp went 1-for-3 with two runs and an RBI. Joey Welsch had a double and an RBI.
Coldwater seeks its seventh state championship. It won titles in 2014, 1992, 1990, 1987, 1984 and 1983.
