MUM men win, women lose at Lancaster

ThunderHawks continue winning ways

LANCASTER — The Miami University Middletown men’s basketball team continued its winning ways with an 88-73 win on the road Saturday, Dec. 19.

The ThunderHawks were able to control the game early, subjecting Lancaster to stifling defense and causing 19 tournovers.

Freshman Alex Arthur paced MUM with 24 points and eight rebounds, followed by Johntay Farmer with 13 points, Curt Thompson with 12 points and Dexter Robinson with eight points 12 rebounds. Lancaster was lead in scoring by Andy Schmitz with 25 points.

The ThunderHawks (6-5, 4-1 Ohio Regional Campus Conference) visit Ohio State University Lima on Tuesday.

ThunderHawk women lose on the road

LANCASTER — The Miami University Middletown women’s basketball team lost to host Ohio University-Lancaster 73-66 on Saturday, Dec. 19.

It was a close game throughout, but a run right before halftime gave the Cougars the margin of victory.

The Thunderhawks had four players in double figures led by Shandar Musselman with 18 points. Ashley Rison had 15 including four 3-pointers, Megan Phillips added 12 and Miranda Alsept had 11. The rest of the scoring was Brooke Keene and Jordan Thomas with three each and Sara Rossi and Ashley Knight with two each. Musselman also pulled down 12 rebounds.

The ThunderHawks (3-9, 3-2 Ohio Regional Campus Conference) play at OSU-Lima on Tuesday.
