Dayton Dragons tap one of their own as new manager

Luis Bolivar played for team in 2003-04

Luis Bolivar is the new manager of the Dayton Dragons.

Bolivar, the team’s hitting coach the past three seasons, is the first former Dragons player to manage the team. He played in 180 games for the Dragons in 2003-04.

Bolivar, the ninth manager in Dragons’ history, began his coaching career in 2013 as the hitting coach for the Arizona League Reds. He played nine years in the minor leagues, including eight seasons in the Reds organization.

Derrin Ebert will be the team’s pitching coach, Daryle Ward the hitting coach and Kevin Mahar the bench coach.
