Dayton Flyers: Injury update likely today on Josh Cunningham

The injury news — good or bad — on University of Dayton forward Josh Cunningham will come Thursday, UD said this afternoon.

Cunningham, a 6-foot-7, 225-pound forward, landed awkwardly after a dunk in the waning moments of Tuesday's 77-72 win over Alabama and suffered a lower leg injury.

He is still undergoing examinations that will not be complete until Thursday.

The redshirt sophomore started both games this season, averaging 12.5 points per game in wins over AustinPeayand Alabama.

Cunningham sat out last season due to NCAA rules after transferring toUDfrom Bradley. At Bradley, he averaged 7.9 points and 7.5 rebounds per game as a freshman. Cunningham had a torn meniscus repaired in his knee last July when he arrived atUDand then a tornlabrumin his shoulder fixed last October.

Cunningham played high school basketball with UD teammate Kyle Davis at Morgan Park Academy in Chicago.
