Dayton’s last visit to the Chicago area was 2008 when the Flyers beat 15th-ranked Marquette in the finals of the Chicago Invitational Challenge in Hoffman Estates, Ill.

The Flyers roster includes three Chicago products — seniors Kyle Davis and Kendall Pollard and redshirt sophomore Josh Cunningham. There are more than 5,000 UD alumni living in the Chicago area.

“We couldn’t be happier to bring our Chicago kids home to play in front of their friends and family,” Dayton coach Archie Miller said. “Chicago has been so good to us in many ways. I personally think it will be really exciting for our fans. We have such a strong presence of alums and Flyer fans in the Chicago area who will show up in a big way.

“For us it’s a chance to challenge ourselves and do it on one of the biggest stages. We are very excited to be a part of this great event.”

Dayton was 25-8 last season and reached the NCAA Tournament for the third straight season. The Flyers return four starters and nine letterwinners in 2016-17.
