Dayton Flyers recruiting update: 2020 targets to visit this weekend

This will be a busy recruiting weekend for the Dayton Flyers, who play Rhode Island at 7 p.m. Friday at UD Arena.

According to a report Tuesday by Jake Weingarten, of Stockrisers.com, 2020 recruits Julian Champagnie and Justin Champagnie, twin brothers from Bishop Loughlin High School, in Brooklyn, will visit campus this weekend. The visit was also reported by NYCHoops.net.

Weingarten also reported Wednesday another 2020 recruit, Isaiah Rivera, will take an official visit to Dayton this weekend.

Julian Champagnie, a 6-foot-7 small forward, is a three-star recruit, according to Rivals.com. Dayton offered him a scholarship in July. Justin Champagnie is a 6-6 forward. Rivals.com ranks him 123rd in the 2020 class. He’s a four-star recruit, according to 247Sports.com, which ranks him 111th.

The brothers visited Pittsburgh in February, and according to PittsburghSportsNow.com, they will likely choose between a final four that includes Pitt, Rutgers, St. John's and Dayton.

Dayton offered a scholarship to Rivera, a 6-4 shooting guard, in January. He is a junior at Geneseo High School in Geneseo, Ill. He's a three-star prospect, according to 247Sports.com, which ranks him 187th in the 2020 class. He also has offers from Drake, Loyola, Bradley, Illinois State, Southern University and St. John's among others.

Dayton has filled all its scholarships for 2019 and will have two opening in 2020 with the departures of Trey Landers and Ryan Mikesell.
