Freshman Paul McMillan stamped himself as a rising star, scoring a game-high 24 points in leading Cincinnati Hughes to a decisive 83-67 defeat of Cleveland Heights in the 17th annual Premier Health Flyin’ to the Hoop at Trent Arena on Monday.

McMillan had already risen to AAU middle-school fame and has taken that game to the next level, averaging 20-points for the Big Red (9-3). Cameron McKenzie added 19 points and A.B. Harouna 13.

Nigel Martin led Cleveland Heights with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Jaelyn Withers, a 6-9 center who signed with Louisville, added 17 points and 12 rebounds. He’s a senior transfer from North Mecklenburg (N.C.).
