Cyclist suffers head injury; Schiano not hurt

Ohio State defensive coordinator Greg Schiano hit a bicyclist with his car Thursday morning in Columbus, according to a report by the Columbus Dispatch.

An Ohio State spokesman confirmed the accident happened at West Lane Avenue and Fred Taylor Drive and said the accident is under investigation by Columbus police.

“Our concern is with the young man who was injured and we are doing everything we can to support him,” the spokesman said.

Schiano, 50, was not injured, according to the Dispatch. The cyclist, 26, was was hospitalized with a head injury but is expected to survive. The accident happened at 6:50 a.m.

Schiano, a former head coach at Rutgers and with the Tampa Bay Buccaners, is also an associate head coach. He was hired last December.
