Less than six years after starting Game 5 of the National League Divisional Series for the Cincinnati Reds, Mat Latos is trying to resurrect his career with the New Jersey Jackals in the Canadian-American Association of Professional Baseball.

“We are very proud to sign a player with Latos' pedigree and caliber," New Jersey Jackals General Manager Joe Redmon said in a press release. "He is one of our most prestigious acquisitions in team history and it will certainly energize our passionate fan base."

In nine seasons, Latos has a career record of 71-59 with a 3.64 ERA. He was 33-16 with a 3.31 ERA with the Reds and was traded to the Miami Marlins for Anthony DeSclafani and Chad Wallach on Dec. 11, 2014.
