Eaton High School rallied from a halftime deficit, then watched its chance to tie against Brookville disappear with an extra-point attempt gone awry in a 20-19 loss to the Blue Devils on Friday.
Eaton had scored with 1:32 left in the game when Kyler Wise caught a 10-yard touchdown pass from Billy Ritter. The Eagles could have tied it with an extra point, but the snap went sailing over the head of the holder.
Brookville maintained its 20-6 halftime lead until Wise scored on a 5-yard pass from Ritter in the third quarter.
Wes Zeller finished with two touchdown receptions for Brookville. Lane Stevenson had two scoring passes and a touchdown rush.
Brookville (3-1) has won two in a row since falling to Anna in Week 2. The Blue Devils play Dixie next week. Eaton visits Oakwood.
CJ 45, Purcell Marian 8: The Eagles rolled with 24 points in the first quarter.
Antwan Persons had seven carries for 90 yards and a touchdown for CJ. Jacob Harrison was 9-of-14 passing for 130 yards and a touchdown. He rushed for 82 yards and a score.
Wesley Lumpkin had six receptions for 106 yards and a TD.
CJ (3-1) has won two in a row since losing to Marshall in Week 2.
Beavercreek 29, Piqua 21: Airius Moore had 22 carries for 124 yards and three TDs for Beavercreek.
Greenville 32, West Carrollton 31: Ryan Drew’s two-point conversion run with 1:20 left gave Greenville the win.
Northmont 58, Fairborn 16: Cameron Belton was 16-of-23 passing for 305 yards and four TDs for Northmont.
Dominique Stollings had six receptions for 162 yards and three touchdowns, his longest 84 yards. Isaiah Williams had four receptions for 99 yards.
Wayne 66, Xenia 12: Wayne rolled with 38 points in the first half.
Javon Harrison was 10-of-22 passing for 97 yards and three touchdowns for Wayne. He had 10 carries for 110 yards. Trey McFadden had 12 carries for 77 yards.
David Roberts was 12-of-24 passing for 151 yards for Xenia.
Dayton Christian 48, Ponitz 6: Heath Harding had 12 carries for 186 yards and two touchdowns for Dayton Christian. Brandon Williams had four receptions for 94 yards and two scores. He also had a 31-yard rushing touchdown.
Col. Crusaders 39, Meadowdale 20: Tyree Toney had three touchdown passes for Meadowdale. Darren Patrick had two TD receptions.
Stebbins 20, Graham 6: Graham led at halftime, but Stebbins came back with two scores in the third quarter.
Jarred Brumfield had TD runs of 38 and 36 yards for Stebbins.
Tippecanoe 47, Indian Lake 7: Tipp’s Jacob Hall had three touchdown runs and 78 yards rushing. Cameron Johnson had 70 yards rushing. Tipp led 28-0 at halftime.
The Red Devil defense forced four turnovers — three interceptions and one fumble.
Tri-County North 21, Bethel 7: J.J. MacPherson had 25 carries for 225 yards and two touchdowns for Tri-County North. He had runs of 52 and 61 yards.
Austin Hutchins began the game with a 46-yard punt return for a touchdown.
Bethel’s only score came on a 62-yard Brandon Garlough TD run.
Cin. McNicholas 42, Carroll 14: McNicholas out-scored Carroll 28-7 in the second half.
Forrest Cordova had two touchdown passes for the Patriots.
