Malott, Wright nominated for McDonald’s All American teams

Two Middletown-area seniors — Madison’s Ally Malott and Middletown’s Kirby Wright — have been nominated for the McDonald’s All American High School Basketball teams.

More than 1,000 players — boys and girls — were nominated. Malott is one of six girls in Ohio to be nominated. There were 38 boys, including Wright, nominated in Ohio.

The final roster of 24 boys and 24 girls will be announced at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 10 during the McDonald’s All American Selection Show on ESPNU. The game is slated for March 30 in Chicago.

Members of the McDonald’s All American Selection Committee and representatives of each state nominate players.

Malott, a University of Dayton recruit, is averaging 20.3 points, 9.2 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game this season. Wright is averaging 6.7 points and 6.8 rebounds per game.
