Middies now 12th in AP poll

Carlisle, Fenwick ranked in D-IV

The Middletown Middies moved up one more spot to 12th place in the latest Associated Press Ohio high school football poll, which was released Monday evening, Sept. 28.

Middletown, which remains unbeaten at 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the Greater Miami Conference, earned 28 points to be just one of three other teams to receive enough points to be ranked in the Division I poll this week.

Middletown has been ranked in each of the first three polls, and will host Fairfield on Friday.

Carlisle (5-0) moved up two spots to fifth in the Division IV poll.

The Indians, who were ranked 11th in the initial poll three weeks ago, will travel to Monroe (4-1) this Friday.

Fenwick also was ranked in the D-IV poll. The Falcons (5-0) earned 16 points to be ranked 15th. It was the second consecutive week Fenwick received enough points to be ranked. They’ll play at Chaminade Julienne on Friday.

Valley View (4-1), which was 20th in D-IV last week, was not ranked this week.

The No. 1-ranked teams in each of the six divisions remained unchanged this week.

Cleveland St. Ignatius (5-0) received 22 first-place votes and earned 296 points to remain No. 1 in D-I, just ahead of Elder (5-0), which had seven first-place votes and 272 points.

Louisville (5-0) was first in D-II, followed by Youngstown Cardinal Mooney (5-0) in D-III, Kettering Alter (5-0) in D-IV, Coldwater (5-0) in D-V and Delphos St. John’s (5-0) in D-VI.
