FAIRFIELD 13, OAK HILLS 3: Curtis Olvey and Braden Buredine hit back-to-back home runs in the sixth inning Friday as the Indians raised their record to 6-3 overall, 3-3 in the Greater Miami Conference. Olvey finished 3-for-5 with three RBIs, and Burdine went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Other batting leaders for Fairfield were Will Drake, 3-for-5 with a triple; Ryan Riga, 2-for-4 with three RBIs; Tyler Burdine, 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs; and Andrew Guenther, a double. Winning pitcher Jordan Ammon ran his record to 2-0.
LAKOTA EAST 7, COLERAIN 6: Jarrett Rindfleisch went 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs for the Thunderhawks in Friday’s Greater Miami Conference game. Other batting leaders for Lakota East were Alex Corna, 2-for-3 with a triple and two runs scored; Zak Kloenne, 2-for-3; Brian Evans, a triple and two RBIs; and Mitch Geers, two RBIs. The Thunderhawks improved to 5-3, 4-2 GMC. Colerain fell to 2-6, 2-4 GMC.
NEW MIAMI 5, ST. BERNARD 3: Casey Chestnut recorded the save for the Vikings by getting St. Bernard to hit into a double play with the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the seventh inning in Friday’s Miami Valley Conference game. Nick Mellott struck out 11 batters in 6 1/3 innings and also went 1-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs, Randy Lipps went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and Chestnut was 1-for-3 with an RBI. St. Bernard slipped to 1-7, 0-3 MVC.
CINCINNATI CHRISTIAN 10, SEVEN HILLS 0: Avery Sneed went 3-for-4 with a triple, double and three runs scored, and winning pitcher Tyler Begley tossed six shutout innings for the Cougars in Friday’s Miami Valley Conference game. Other standouts for Cincinnati Christian (3-4, 2-3 MVC) were Jordan Leisinger, 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs; Isaiah Haley, 1-for-4 with two RBIs; and Brice Satterwhite, 1-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Seven Hills slipped to 6-2, 2-1 MVC.
LAKOTA WEST 9, MIDDLETOWN 4: The Firebirds erupted for eight runs in the bottom of the second inning in Friday’s Greater Miami Conference game. The Middies were led by Kyle Schwarber, two hits with a home run and two RBIs, and Austin Downing, two hits with an RBI. Middletown slipped to 6-2 overall, 4-2 in the GMC. Mac Doherty was the winning pitcher for Lakota West, which improved to 4-4, 3-3 GMC.
NORTHWEST 9, ROSS 8: The Rams (5-3, 4-1 in the Fort Ancient Valley Conference) rallied from an 8-2 deficit with four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and two in the sixth to tie the score, but Northwest won Friday’s game after scoring a run in the top of the seventh with the help of an error. The Rams were led by Cody Johnson, 2-for-3, and A.J. Kruzel, 2-for-5.
SOFTBALL
FAIRFIELD 4, MIDDLETOWN 0: Erica D’Arcy pitched a four-hit shutout, and Kelly Browning’s two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth inning broke a scoreless tie as the Indians streaked to their sixth straight Greater Miami Conference win on Friday. Other batting standouts for Fairfield were Lexi Gabbard, 2-for-3 with a double and RBI; April Einsfeld, 2-for-3 with a double; and D’Arcy, 1-for-2 with a walk. Sara Owens allowed only two earned runs in six innings for the Middies, who were led on offense by Abbie Cain, 2-for-3. Fairfield improved to 6-0 overall and in the GMC. Middletown is 2-6, 2-4 GMC.
HAMILTON 13, SYCAMORE 4: Heather Robinson went 5-for-5 with a triple, two doubles and six RBIs to lead the Big Blue on Friday. Other leaders for Hamilton (2-4 overall and in the Greater Miami Conference) were Katia Rogers, 3-for-3 with a walk; Amanda Kinsey, 2-for-3; Brooke Bryant, 2-for-5; and Gabby Smith and Amy Fritz, each with a double. Bryant, the winning pitcher, had seven strikeouts. Sycamore slipped to 0-6, 0-5 GMC.
HARRISON 1, EDGEWOOD 0: Harrison won by scoring an unearned run in the bottom of the eighth inning on Friday. Bree Williams, Brittany Banks and Carley Wright all went 2-for-4 for the Cougars, who slipped to 5-4 overall, 4-1 in the Fort Ancient Valley Conference. Harrison stands 4-2, 4-1 in the FAVC.
NEW MIAMI 9, ST. BERNARD 1: Winning pitcher Sam Faulkner threw a two-hitter with seven strikeouts on Friday. New Miami (3-0, 2-0 Miami Valley Conference) was led on offense by Lauren Davidson, 3-for-4 with a triple; Janisha Lathan, 2-for-3 with a double; and Heather Thacker, a triple with two RBIs.
TALAWANDA 10, WINTON WOODS 1: The Braves were led by Stephanie Radford, 3-for-4 with three RBIs, three runs scored and five stolen bases, and winning pitcher Caitlyn Calhoun, who tossed a one-hitter with 12 strikeouts and also went 3-for-4 with two RBIs in Friday’s Fort Ancient Valley Conference game. Another standout for Talawanda was Alex Vizedom, two hits with an RBI. THS improved to 4-3 overall, 2-1 in the FAVC.
