LeBron latest to endorse Kaepernick protest but will stand for anthem

LeBron James told reporters at the Cleveland Cavaliers media day Monday he respects Colin Kapernick’s protest of the Star-Spangled Banner but will stand for the song prior to games.

James praised Kaepernick for his peaceful protest and condemned those who have been critical of the 49ers quarterback.

In July, James joined several fellow superstars at the ESPYs in calling for athletes to do more to try to effect positive change in the wake of civil unrest that followed highly publicized police shootings in Louisiana and Minnesota and the fatal attack on police officers in Dallas.
