Ohio State quarterback announces he will transfer

Burrow graduated last weekend, so he can play next season as a grad transfer. He has two seasons of eligibility.

Burrow competed throughout the spring with redshirt freshman Dwayne Haskins and freshman Tate Martell. Urban Meyer did not announce a starter after the spring game in April.

Burrow, an Athens High School graduate, redshirted as a freshman in 2015. He appeared in five games in 2016 and five games in 2017. In those games, he completed 29 of 39 passes for 287 yards with two touchdowns. A hand injury slowed him down early last season, and that was one reason Haskins was the second-string quarterback behind J.T. Barrett.

“I’ve heard for three years I’m never going to play here and end up transferring and that I’m not good enough to play here,” Burrow said in April. “I just sit back and put my nose to the grindstone and work. That’s what I’ve done for three years, and I think I’ve come a long way.”
