“I’m happy with the work ethic,” coach Gary Wise said. “We have some pretty talented kids on the team and we got a lot of pins and that is the key to any tournament.
“To have six placers at that tournament is huge.”
Wise uses the Coaches Classic as a sneak peak at the district tournament.
Freshmen Kyah Patrick (106 pounds) and Gavin Bell (132) finished third for the Beavers. Ian Heiland (145) and Bradley Smith (220) were fourth, Colin Neuner (126) seventh and Keaton Keller (152) eighth.
“I don’t like to look where we are at, but right now we are pretty good,” Wise said. “The thing that was the most positive was having other coaches come up and telling us we looked good and looked aggressive. That’s always a good thing.”
Centerville was 16th with 65 points behind seventh-place finishes by Alexander Taylor (106) and Jacob Charette (220).
