HS Roundup 4/11: Chapman leads Carroll baseball in rally win

Steve Chapman had an RBI double to help Carroll pull off a three run rally in the final inning for an 11-10 win versus McNicholas in baseball on Wednesday.

Chapman finished 2-for-4 with four RBI. Trent Randall added four hits and four RBI and Jake Westgerdes was 3-for-3 with a double and the win in relief.

The victory moved Carroll to 2-0 in conference play and 3-4 overall.


Northmont 13, West Carrollton 4: Northmont plated 11 runs in the first two innings to take a commanding lead. Ryan Pullins led the way with three hits and four RBI and Ryan Tanto added a double with three RBI.

Xenia 15, Southeastern 4: Alex Sparks doubled and drove in four off of three hits to pace Xenia, which pushed across eight runs in the second inning. Wes Earles and Tyler King each had a pair of RBI for Southeastern.

Lebanon 2, Wayne 1: Kameron Davis recorded the game-winning hit in the bottom of the seventh. Lebanon scored a run in the first inning and Wayne answered with a run in the fifth to set up Davis’ heroics.

Fenwick 13, Miamisburg 7: Matt Fink blasted a three-run home run, C.J. Napier brought in three runs on a double and Sam Secrest earned the win in relief to help Fenwick improve to 8-2.

Monroe 14, Franklin 4: Alex Page paced Monroe, going 4-for-4 with two doubles, a home run, four runs scored and six RBI. Matt Green, Noah Kovach, Nick Osterman and Zach Gomia each added a pair of hits.

Kenton Ridge 9, Bellbrook 3: Bailey Armentrout had a 4-for-4 night with five RBI to pace Kenton Ridge. Quinton Roach added a pair of hits and Garrett Kelly had a double. Jordan Elliott and Adam Galle each had two hits for Bellbrook.

Urbana 8, Indian Lake 2: Gabe Spiers struck out 11 in a complete game outing to lead Urbana. Spiers also tallied three hits and three RBI at the plate and Austin Rader also drove in three.

Ben Logan 10, Graham 0: Curtis Gadson struck out nine and walked one in a complete game shutout for Ben Logan. Trace Tevis, Keegan Wilson, Cole Jones and Jacob Powell each had a RBI in a four-run first inning for Ben Logan.

Northeastern 6, Northwestern 5: Mac Davis picked up the win for Northeastern, which scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to secure the win. Dylan Hand added two hits and a double.

West Jefferson 8, West Liberty-Salem 0: Thomas Allen doubled and tallied ten strikeouts on the mound in a losing effort for WLS.


Northmont 4, Spg. Shawnee 2: Northmont rallied from a one-run deficit with three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. D.J. Shepherd doubled and Hannah Seagraves had two hits and notched the win on the mound to lead the way. Hannah Spitzer laced a pair of doubles for Shawnee.

Lakota West 14, Hamilton 8: Cameron Wesley doubled twice and had four hits and Taylor Williams and Lauren Betz each added three hits to lead Lakota West to a 6-0 mark. Ashley Halcomb had a double and Mya Halcomb a triple for Hamilton.

Badin 15, Chaminade Julienne 0: Emma Kent ran her record to 3-0, going 2-for-4 with three RBI at the plate to help her cause. Nicole Rawlings tripled and drove in two and Sara Fields added three RBI for Badin.

Monroe 4, Franklin 2: Sam Schwab was 3-for-3 with a home run and Alyssa Wagner struck out nine to earn the win for Monroe. Shelby Raby took the tough loss for Franklin.

Brookville 2, Eaton 0: Annika Gels took the tough-luck loss for Eaton, striking out five and allowing two runs on five hits.

Ben Logan 2, Bellefontaine 1: Jaz McKeen brought in the game-winning run in the eighth inning and LeAnn Regula doubled in a run in the seventh inning to send the game into extras to keep Ben Logan unbeaten at 5-0.

Ross 12, Edgewood 4: Whitley Arno homered to bring in her 12th RBI of the season and Kenzie Meyer pitched a complete game shutout for Ross.

Greeneview 24, Northridge 7: Allison Simpson, Bryce Ratliff and Baylee Anderson drove in three runs apiece, with Anderson also throwing a complete game to pace Greeneview. Karli Ricketts had three hits and two RBI for Northridge.

Triad 2, Fairbanks 0: Audrey Lightle and Holly Alvoid each had a double for Triad, which scored the lone runs in the first and second innings to hold on for the win.

West Jefferson 6, West Liberty-Salem 1: Dierdre McGill tripled and scored the lone run for WLS off a Kelsey Day double.

Boys Tennis

Springboro 4, Oakwood 1: Nick Mitchell and Andrew Rhoden scored singles victories for ‘Boro. Sam Lahmon led Oakwood with a win in first singles.

Middletown 3, Fairborn 2: Sean Ramsey, Deniz Misirioglu and Dylan Bunch swept the singles matches for the Middies. Fairborn took both doubles matches.

Fenwick 4, Lebanon 1: Dylan Sagan and Tim Erhart notched singles victories for Fenwick. Josh Newberg had the lone win in third singles for Lebanon.

Valley View 5, Chaminade Julienne 0: Justin Devilbiss won his first singles match in straight sets and Ben Holbrook and Ian Barnett also picked up singles wins for Valley View.

Preble Shawnee 5, Madison 0: Pierce Elliott and Luke Feck took their singles matches in straight sets for Preble.

Dixie 4, Brookville 1: Mason Swigart of Dixie won his first singles match 10-8 in a super tiebreaker. Alex Perminov also had a singles win for Dixie.

Tecumseh 3, Centerville 2: Mitchell Foland, Drew Sarihan and Jacob Lewis all grabbed singles wins and Tecumseh improved to 6-0 overall and 4-0 in conference play.

Miami Valley 5, Dayton Christian 0: Colton More and Nathan Howell won their singles matches in straight sets to help Miami Valley improve to 7-0.

Lehman Catholic 3, Milton Union 2: Griffin West and Ryan Goettemoeller won a pair of singles matches for Lehman Catholic. Peyton Brown had a singles win for Milton.

Boys Volleyball

Beavercreek 3, Carroll 0: Naumaan Hussain recorded 33 assists, Riley Bell had 10 kills with three blocks and Alex Le seven digs to help ‘Creek improve to 7-1. Spencer Bethel tallied 25 assists and 17 digs in a losing effort for Carroll.

Edgewood 3, Colerain 0: Blake Perdue paced Edgewood with seven aces and five kills, Griffin Smith added nine and Jacob Insprucker six aces.
