HS Roundup 5/3: Kenton Ridge baseball clinches CBC division title

With its 4-3 win over Ben Logan, Kenton Ridge won the Kenton Trail Division of the CBC outright for the fourth consecutive year.

This is the first time in school history that Kenton Ridge has won the title in four straight seasons.

Drew Wichael threw for his third win of the year, while Quinton Roach tacked on two RBIs, two hits and a triple.

Calvin Dibert, Zac Schneider and Jackson Wright each ran for doubles for KR.

Trace Tevis paced Ben Logan with two hits and a triple. Cole Waugh and Micah Anderson each chipped in a double.

Baseball

Fairfield 6, Talawanda 3: Trindad Selvie scored three runs and stole three bases as Fairfield topped Talawanda. Alex Peters tacked on two hits. Cody Wyatt pitched six innings to earn his second win of the season.

Springboro 10, Edgewood 2: Ten different players scored runs for Springboro in the victory.

St. Henry 3, New Bremen 0: Daylon Lange’s ERA improved to 0.18, having gone 36 consecutive innings without allowing an earned run. Jay Knapke and Tyler Schlarman each recorded two hits in the winning effort. Grant Selby batted for New Bremen’s lone hit, a single in the second inning.

Triad 4, Greeneview 0: Taylor Stinson tallied two hits, while Jon Brakeall and Zach Hackney ran for a double and a single respectively.

Tri-Village 14, Troy Christian 8: Christian Ricker paved the way with four hits, four stolen bases and for RBIs in the TV victory. Jared Buckley tacked on two runs scored, two stole bases, a double and an RBI for TV.

Softball

Coldwater 5, Marion Local 2: Maura Hoying kicked off Coldwater’s scoring in the first inning, doubling on a 1-2 count.

Eaton 9, Talawanda 5: Annika Gels and Logan Unger combined to pitch in the Eaton win, recording 11 strikeouts between the two. Lexi Miller led offensively with two hits and a double, while Becca Mowen tacked on an additional hit and double.

Fort Loramie 12, Houston 7: Heather Eilerman paved the way, collecting four hits and scoring three runs. Morgan Holscher chipped in a three run homerun to extend the Fort Loramie lead.

Kenton Ridge 13, Ben Logan 2: Kinzie Jones and Olivia Roose tallied the two Ben Logan runs in the losing effort.

Lebanon 4, Miamisburg 1: Madison DeGennaro, Logan Mueller and Molly Osborne each tallied two hits in the win over ‘Burg. Kat Frank was the winning pitcher with eight strikeouts, only allowing one run.

West Liberty-Salem 7, West Jefferson 4: Maddie Stratton and Hallie Strapp each hit for solo homeruns, while Arrah Sandy and Kenedie Cox chipped in two hits each. Kelsey Day earned the win from the mound.

Northmont 6, Versailles 3: Sydney McGlinton batted for two RBIs and a double in the Northmont victory. DJ Shepherd tacked on a double. Kami McEldowney and MaKenzie Knore each doubled for Versailles in the losing effort.

Boys Tennis

Miami Valley 5, Oakwood 0: The doubles duos of Makul Sharma and Reece Quigley (6-0, 6-0) and Amin Ahmed and Jackson Newell (6-4, 6-1) picked up wins as Miami Valley swept Oakwood.

Middletown 3, Princeton 2: Sean Ramsey, Deniz Misirlioglu and Hope Brown all recorded singles wins to earn Middletown the victory.

Preble Shawnee 4, Edgewood 1: Pierce Elliot, Luke Feck and Allison Zornes all won their singles matches as PS topped Edgewood. The doubles team of Seth Longworth and Trent Maloney picked up the lone Edgewood win at first doubles.

Boys Volleyball

Alter 3, Badin 1: Ben Conroy added 22 assists and one ace to his season total as Alter bested Badin. Ethan Ditzel added on 14 kills and three blocks and Andrew Rose 13 kills, 12 digs and three blocks. Dan Nye rounded out the effort with 20 digs and 12 kills.

Beavercreek 3, Miamisburg 0: Jarrod Brown paced ‘Creek with 28 assists, nine aces and four kills in the sweep. Alex Le tacked on 11 digs and Riley Bell eight kills and one block.

Centerville 3, Edgewood 0: Jerry Beeler tallied six assists while David Stolz had three kills in the losing effort.
