HS Roundup 9/5: Thomas scores twice in final 2 minutes for Centerville

Aleks Thomas struck twice with goals in the final two minutes to help Centerville stun visiting Miamisburg 4-3 in boys soccer action on Thursday.

Thomas scored the equalizer with two minutes to play and drove in the game-winner with just 42 seconds remaining.

Zach Horwitz and Thomas Maley each had earlier goals for Centerville.

Ben Sunderman tallied two scores to pace ‘Burg and T.J. Davis knocked in the third goal.

Alter 2, Mariemont 0: Gavin Battaglia put Alter on the board off a Will Augustine assist and Jake Haines added the second score off a Will Schwieterman assist.

Bethel 3, Legacy Christian 0: Nick Schmidt, Cannon Dakin and Hunter Parrish each netted a goal and Aiden Flomerfelt racked up two assists to lead Bethel.

Monroe 11, Norwood 0: Monroe moved to 5-0-1 with the victory.

New Knoxville 8, Fairlawn 0: Patrick Covert poured in five goals, a single-game school record, and keeper Josh Deitsch recorded one save and the shutout for New Knoxville.

Sidney 3, Lehman Catholic 1: Jalen Hudgins netted a pair of goals and Carson Taylor added one score to lead Sidney.

Girls Soccer

Bellbrook 6, Oakwood 2: Sydney Hollingsworth and Bailey Sedlak drove in three goals apiece to account for Bellbrook’s scoring.

Greeneview 4, West Liberty-Salem 2: Josie Faris scored twice and Faith Rutherford had a goal and an assist to pace Greeneview. Sophie Cole and Emily Hollar scored a goal apiece for WLS.

Lehman Catholic 6, Troy Christian 0: Rylie McIver and Lindsey Magoteaux each booted a pair of goals in and keeper Heidi Toner tallied three saves and the shutout.

Miami East 4, Twin Valley South 0: Miami East pulled away with three goals in the second half.

Stivers 3, Yellow Springs 1: Madyson Overman turned in a solid performance at keeper to lead Stivers.

Centerville 159, Northmont 183: Josh Welsh fired off a 37 and Jerrick Liu a 39 to lead Centerville. Brendan Siehl shot a 44 for Northmont.

Covington 186, Mississinawa Valley 208: Grant Humphrey carded a 37 to lead the field for Covington. Missisinawa had a season-low score in the loss.

Fort Loramie 168, Botkins 170: Zach Pleiman’s 39 and Devin Raterman’s 42 helped Fort Loramie earn the slim win. Jaydon Wendel shot a 41 for Botkins.

Lima Central Catholic 171, Ben Logan 178: Ethan Ricketts carded a 39 and Alex Naragon and Trey Allen each had a 46 in the loss for Ben Logan.

Minster 155, New Knoxville 219: Grant Koenig’s 36 and Grant Voisard’s 38 helped Minster remain unbeaten. Max Henschen paced New Knoxville with a 49.

Monroe 150, Valley View 176: Alex Gomia tied a course record with a four-under-par 31 and Jackson Baker added a 36 to help Monroe improve to 10-1. Ben Neff paced Valley View with a 38.

Northridge 213, Dixie 218: Justin Triplett carded the runner-up score at 47 to lead Northridge. Carter Stout earned medalist honors for Dixie with a 45.

St. Henry 177, Fort Recovery 190: Andrew Mescher chipped in a 40 and Reed Koesters a 43 to lead St. Henry. Grant Knapke finished with a 46 for Fort Recovery.

Triad 203, Northeastern 211: Cole Pond and Mason Johnson each tallied a 48 to lead Triad. Hunter Buck was the medalist at 40 for Northeastern.

Clinton-Massie 187, Lebanon 222: Gabby Woods finished four strokes under par with a 32 for Clinton-Massie. Savannah Rutherford led Lebanon with a 44 and Grace Swartz added a 45.
