HS Roundup 9/5: Thomas scores twice in final 2 minutes for Centerville

Aleks Thomas struck twice with goals in the final two minutes to help Centerville stun visiting Miamisburg 4-3 in boys soccer action on Thursday.

Thomas scored the equalizer with two minutes to play and drove in the game-winner with just 42 seconds remaining.

Zach Horwitz and Thomas Maley each had earlier goals for Centerville.

Ben Sunderman tallied two scores to pace ‘Burg and T.J. Davis knocked in the third goal.

Boys Soccer

Alter 2, Mariemont 0: Gavin Battaglia put Alter on the board off a Will Augustine assist and Jake Haines added the second score off a Will Schwieterman assist.

Bethel 3, Legacy Christian 0: Nick Schmidt, Cannon Dakin and Hunter Parrish each netted a goal and Aiden Flomerfelt racked up two assists to lead Bethel.

Monroe 11, Norwood 0: Monroe moved to 5-0-1 with the victory.

New Knoxville 8, Fairlawn 0: Patrick Covert poured in five goals, a single-game school record, and keeper Josh Deitsch recorded one save and the shutout for New Knoxville.

Sidney 3, Lehman Catholic 1: Jalen Hudgins netted a pair of goals and Carson Taylor added one score to lead Sidney.

Girls Soccer

Bellbrook 6, Oakwood 2: Sydney Hollingsworth and Bailey Sedlak drove in three goals apiece to account for Bellbrook’s scoring.

Greeneview 4, West Liberty-Salem 2: Josie Faris scored twice and Faith Rutherford had a goal and an assist to pace Greeneview. Sophie Cole and Emily Hollar scored a goal apiece for WLS.

Lehman Catholic 6, Troy Christian 0: Rylie McIver and Lindsey Magoteaux each booted a pair of goals in and keeper Heidi Toner tallied three saves and the shutout.

Miami East 4, Twin Valley South 0: Miami East pulled away with three goals in the second half.

Stivers 3, Yellow Springs 1: Madyson Overman turned in a solid performance at keeper to lead Stivers.

Boys Golf

Ansonia 207, Tri-Village 208: Tyler Sink shot a 47 and Dalton Drees a 51 to help Ansonia earn the close victory.

Centerville 159, Northmont 183: Josh Welsh fired off a 37 and Jerrick Liu a 39 to lead Centerville. Brendan Siehl shot a 44 for Northmont.

Covington 186, Mississinawa Valley 208: Grant Humphrey carded a 37 to lead the field for Covington. Missisinawa had a season-low score in the loss.

Fort Loramie 168, Botkins 170: Zach Pleiman’s 39 and Devin Raterman’s 42 helped Fort Loramie earn the slim win. Jaydon Wendel shot a 41 for Botkins.

Lima Central Catholic 171, Ben Logan 178: Ethan Ricketts carded a 39 and Alex Naragon and Trey Allen each had a 46 in the loss for Ben Logan.

Minster 155, New Knoxville 219: Grant Koenig’s 36 and Grant Voisard’s 38 helped Minster remain unbeaten. Max Henschen paced New Knoxville with a 49.

Monroe 150, Valley View 176: Alex Gomia tied a course record with a four-under-par 31 and Jackson Baker added a 36 to help Monroe improve to 10-1. Ben Neff paced Valley View with a 38.

Northridge 213, Dixie 218: Justin Triplett carded the runner-up score at 47 to lead Northridge. Carter Stout earned medalist honors for Dixie with a 45.

St. Henry 177, Fort Recovery 190: Andrew Mescher chipped in a 40 and Reed Koesters a 43 to lead St. Henry. Grant Knapke finished with a 46 for Fort Recovery.

Triad 203, Northeastern 211: Cole Pond and Mason Johnson each tallied a 48 to lead Triad. Hunter Buck was the medalist at 40 for Northeastern.

Versailles 172, Coldwater 176: Michael Schoenherr and Carson Muhlenkamp each shot a 42 for Coldwater in the loss.

Girls Golf

Ben Logan 160, Urbana 191: Mailiis Simovart and Sydney Wesson split medalist honors with an even-par 35 to lead Ben Logan. Aysha Lucas and Gatlin Ridgwell each shot a 46 for Urbana.

Clinton-Massie 187, Lebanon 222: Gabby Woods finished four strokes under par with a 32 for Clinton-Massie. Savannah Rutherford led Lebanon with a 44 and Grace Swartz added a 45.

Versailles 190, Coldwater 195: Grace Buschur and Laney Finke each finished with a 48 in a losing effort for Coldwater.

Girls Tennis

Badin 5, McNicholas 0: Ryleigh Clemmons, Tatum Oliver and Ellie Gibbons each nabbed a singles win for Badin.

Dixie 3, Northridge 2: Hannah Bailey and Olivia Franks picked up a doubles win in three sets to lead Dixie. Fifine Marshall and Charlie Fuduloff accounted for singles wins for Northridge.

Fairborn 3, Stebbins 2: Eva Gibson won in first singles and the doubles duo of Winnie Zheng/Myleigh Smith clinched the victory for Fairborn.

Miamisburg 4, Lebanon 1: Abbie Campbell was solid at first singles to lead Miamisburg in the win.

Springboro 5, Northmont 0: Abby Nugent, Katelyn Mazurek and Amaya Hulbert each rolled to singles wins for Springboro.

Girls Volleyball

Badin 3, Chaminade Julienne 2: Badin trailed 2-0 before rallying, winning the final set 18-16.

Bellbrook 3, Oakwood 2: Rachel Cordonnier chalked up 16 kills with six blocks and Emily Weslow tacked on seven kills with 21 digs for Bellbrook, which rallied from a 2-1 deficit to earn the win.

Ben Logan 3, Urbana 0: Emily Skelley picked up 11 kills with 10 digs, Maleah Murphy had 24 digs and Ella Taylor 18 assists in the loss for Urbana.

Coldwater 3, Parkway 0: Kelsey Kahlig scored five aces, Annelise Harlemert 25 assists and Laurin Gilliland 15 kills for Coldwater.

Eaton 3, Valley View 1: Shaylen Perry totaled 16 kills, Olivia Baumann 10 kills with six aces and Bailey Jerdon 18 assists with 14 digs to help Eaton remain unbeaten.

Mechanicsburg 3, Southeastern 2: Ava Mayo recorded 24 kills with 27 digs, Mallory Blakeman added 26 digs and Audrey Ayars 48 assists as ‘Burg rallied from a 2-0 deficit to earn the win.

McNicholas 3, Alter 0: Lindsey Rocco recorded 24 assists with two blocks, Macy Adams added 12 kills with seven digs and Elizabeth Schlemmer 10 kills with six digs in the loss for Alter.

National Trail 3, Mississinawa Valley 2: Tristan Bowers led the way with 13 kills and four aces, Madison Hathaway had 23 digs and Brooke Johnson 22 assists for National Trail.

New Knoxville 3, Delphos St. John’s 0: Carly Fledderjohann totaled 29 assists with three aces, Ellie Gabel tacked on 13 kills with nine digs and Haley Fledderjohann 10 digs for New Knoxville.

Roger Bacon 3, Carroll 0: Carly Cogan and Amanda Jusino chipped in three kills apiece and Julia Barnes added 14 digs in the loss for Carroll.

Sidney 3, West Carrollton 0: Anna Brady, Darien McBride and Cassidy Truesdale each put down five kills for Sidney, with Truesdale adding three blocks and Norah Houts five aces.

Ursuline Academy 3, Springboro 0: Mary Jones chalked up nine kills, Kaitlyn Brown 18 assists with nine digs but ‘Boro fell in straight sets to the two-time defending state champions.

West Liberty-Salem 3, Greeneview 1: Alex Burton led the way with 19 kills and 18 digs, Gabby Williams tacked on 26 assists and Michele Smith 16 digs with eight kills for WLS. Sarah Trisel totaled 10 kills with four blocks and Klarissa Knisley 10 assists for Greeneview.
