Schiano on Ohio State’s loss of Bosa: ‘You have to go and move on and play with who you have’

Ohio State announces Bosa won’t play again after injury

Nothing appeared different about the Ohio State Buckeyes as they left the practice field Tuesday. They headed to the locker room at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center without one of their best players and captains, junior defensive end Nick Bosa, but they’ve been doing that for weeks.

What was different Tuesday was the Buckeyes knew they would never practice or play with Bosa again. The Bosa era, started by Nick's brother Joey in 2013, ended when  Ohio State announced Nick will "withdraw from school in order to devote more time to his rehabilitation and training efforts."

Bosa has not played since suffering a core muscle injury in the game against Texas Christian on Sept. 15, though he has been at practice in recent weeks and was on the sideline Saturday when Ohio State beat Minnesota 30-14.

Here’s how the players and coaches interviewed Tuesday reacted:

Quarterback Dwayne Haskins: "We prepared for Nick not coming back. I'm excited for him and his decision and wish him the best of luck."

Safety Jordan Fuller: "If he was coming back, he was coming back. If he didn't, he didn't. At the end of the day, he had to make a decision for him, and I'm happy for him.

Defensive coordinator Greg Schiano: "He's a great player. It's tough for everybody, including Nick, but that's kind of life in sports. You have to go and move on and play with who you have."

Wide receiver K.J. Hill: "I feel he made the best decision for him and his family. We support him all the way. We love him like a brother, and good luck to him."
