The Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League has canceled its 2020 season.
The 12-team league includes the Hamilton Joes, Xenia Scouts, Cincinnati Steam, Grand Lake Mariners and Richmond (Ind.) Jazz.
“In light of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and the resulting government regulations, the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League Board of Directors has voted to cancel the 2020 season,” the GLSCL said in a release. “The directors determined it would be impossible to operate effectively while insuring the safety of all involved.”
The wood-bat baseball league, which was founded in 1986, is for current college players who have at least one year of eligibility remaining.
