Two Dayton Flyers commit to play for Red Scare in The Basketball Tournament

Event scheduled to begin in July with championship rounds at UD Arena in August

Ryan Mikesell and Trey Landers may get another chance to play at UD Arena.

The two Dayton Flyers senior joined the roster of the Red Scare on Wednesday and will play with the team of UD alums in The Basketball Tournament, the $2 million winner-takes-all event. The Red Scare will have to win three games to get a chance to play at UD Arena.

Mikesell and Landers join a roster that also includes 2014 graduate Devin Oliver, 2017 graduate Kyle Davis and 2018 graduate Darrell Davis. The group is being managed by former walk-ons Joey Gruden and Jeremiah Bonsu.

The Basketball Tournament announced in February its plans to play its final three rounds at UD Arena this summer. Eight regional winners will advance to UD Arena.

The Red Scare played in the regional last summer at Capital University in Bexley. The closest regional this season will be played at the Covelli Center on Ohio State’s campus from July 23-26.

The Basketball Tournament will play seven games in all at UD Arena. Two quarterfinal games will be played at 7 and 9 p.m. on Aug. 6. The next two quarterfinals take place at the same times Aug. 7. The semifinals will be played at noon and 2 p.m. Aug. 8. The championship game will take place at 9 p.m. Aug. 11.
