Valley View’s Hannah commits to Dayton

Shane Hannah is going to remain in Montgomery County.

The 2013 Southwestern Buckeye League Co-Defensive Player of the Year and a three-year starter at Valley View High School who ranks among the program’s top tacklers ever, Hannah (6 feet 1, 215 pounds) has committed to the University of Dayton.

The son of former Valley View and Michigan State offensive line great Shane Hannah, Hannah also held an offer from Ashland.

In addition to Hannah, Dayton is expected to sign Wyoming defensive end Griffin Ogara (6-4, 210), Columbus St. Francis DeSales athlete Tucker Yinger (5-10, 170), Notre Dame Cathedral Latin athlete Joe Demuth (6-2, 225), Lakewood St. Edward offensive lineman Danny McManamon (6-2, 245) and Minster defensive lineman Wes Hegemann (6-2, 250).

Urbana update: Urbana University has received verbal commitments from several players including Miamisburg linebacker Robert Young (6-1, 195), Beavercreek athlete Austin Cull (6-2, 215), Hamilton offensive lineman Devan Pankey (6-6, 295), Oak Hills offensive lineman Alex Dupps (6-4, 290) and Hamilton Township running back Lorenzio Bridges (5-11, 182).

Redhawk commits: Miami University has 16 prospects it plans to sign. Of those just five are from Ohio.

They include Springboro tight end Jordan Rigg (6-5, 230), Colerain receiver Kelvin Cook (5-11, 170), Moeller quarterback Gus Ragland (6-3, 205), Toledo Central Catholic linebacker Paul Moses (5-11, 200) and Cleveland Benedictine receiver Matt Merimee (6-3, 190).

According to ScoutingOhio.com, Miami offered 42 Ohio prospects in the Class of 2014.

Butler bound: Centerville senior defensive back Cameron Langer (6-0, 185) has committed to Butler. Langer, first team All-Greater Western Ohio Conference Central Division, picked the Bulldogs over Tiffin.

Stills makes choice: Xenia senior athlete Korey Stills (5-10, 175) has committed to Ohio Dominican. Stills, second team All-GWOC South, picked the Panthers over Ashland, Urbana and Findlay.

Another Knight: Alter senior defensive lineman Donald Kiley (6-1, 190) has committed to Tiffin. Kiley was second team All-Greater Catholic League last season.

Last attempt: Lehigh has offered Trotwood-Madison senior running back Marc Raye-Redmond (5-11, 175). Redmond, who was previously committed to Brown, is now headed to Columbia.

Next wave: Lakota West junior offensive lineman George Asafo-Adjei (6-5, 295) continues to be one of the region's hottest prospects. Asafo-Adjei recently picked up offers from Cincinnati, Illinois, West Virginia and Minnesota. He already held offers from Kentucky, Toledo, Western Michigan and Akron.
