Versailles High School senior Justin Ahrens listed the Dayton Flyers in his top six college choices in a Twitter post Monday.
Ohio State, Michigan, Xavier, Vanderbilt and Purdue are also among Ahrens’ finalists. Ahrens, a 6-foot-5 forward, ranks 137th in the class of 2018, according to Rivals.com.
Ahrens was originally committed to Ohio State but reopened his recruiting in June when Thad Matta was fired. Dayton offered him a scholarship the same day.

“Obviously it’s a great school, great fan support,” Ahrens told the Dayton Daily News in July. “It’s 15 minutes down the road, so it’s definitely a school I’m considering. They text me probably every day or call me. They’ve been in touch and are trying to build a great relationship with me. We really do have a good relationship, so that’s something I’ll look into.”
