Showers and thunder to start workweek

Rain will remain steady at times through around 1 a.m., but showers should lift northeast out of the area for the bulk of the overnight, StormCenter 7 Meteorologist McCall Vrydaghs said.

“A few more showers are possible to redevelop from the southwest in the morning, along with a few rumbles of thunder,” Vrydaghs said. “These showers do not look to be too impactful, but the winds are a different story.”

Monday: Sustained winds increase through the morning with gusts peaking close to 30 mph. Temperatures will reach the mid-60s. A cold front will cross the area into the afternoon, bringing some more scattered showers and a few storms.

“Severe weather is not expected, but again the winds will be gusting over 30 mph to near 40 mph. This is not enough to warrant a wind advisory, but enough to create driving issues for elevated vehicles,” Vrydaghs said. “Also, I do not see any reason for downed trees or power lines as these are not damaging winds.”

Monday night, showers should come to an end, and skies will gradually clear through the night with temperatures falling into the low 40s. It will not be as windy, but still breezy at times.

Tuesday: Sun should return with some clouds, but it will be windy and cooler. There is a very slight chance of passing showers. Temperatures will approach 60 degrees.

Wednesday: Another partly sunny and breezy day is expected, with the chance of scattered showers. Highs should not reach past the middle to upper 50s.

Thursday: The day will be sunny, breezy and cool. Highs will drop again into the low- to mid-50s.

Friday: Friday will bring a mix of sun and clouds, with highs in the mid-50s.
