Area companies land nearly $20M in defense contracts

Two area companies were recently awarded $18 million total in two defense contract awards, the Department of Defense said.

Engineering and infrastructure firm Wolpert, Inc., based in Beavercreek, was awarded a $9.5 million firm fixed-price multi-year contract for architectural and engineering services to the Army, Air Force for other military and civil projects in the Great Lakes and Ohio areas, the DoD said late Friday.

Estimated completion date for that work is Dec. 12, 2018, the DoD said.

And CFM International, a West Chester Twp.-based joint venture of GE Aviation and French firm Snecma, has been awarded a $8,531,880 firm fixed-price contract to produce combustion liners for the Air Force, the department said.

That work will be performed in Ohio with an April 15, 2015 completion date.
