Dayton History will be the recipient of the Better Business Bureau’s eighth annual Community Honor Award.
The award will be presented on Tuesday, May 8 during the BBB’s annual Eclipse Awards at the David H. Ponitz Sinclair Center, 444 W. Third St., Bldg. 12, Dayton.
The Community Honor Award was established in 2011 to honor a community-based government, nonprofit or education organization with a proven commitment to improving all aspects of life in the Miami Valley. It spotlights the honoree’s efforts to realize not only its own mission, but its role in making the Miami Valley.
Dayton History preserves, shares and celebrates the region’s history. It has 40 buildings and millions of artifacts under its care, including Carillon Historical Park, Carillon Brewing Company, Hawthorn Hill, the Paul Laurence Dunbar House Historic Site, Patterson Homestead, The Old Court House, Memorial Hall and The Archive Center. It provides year-round educational programming to help others understand the significance Dayton has on the region, the country and the globe.
“As I have been a Daytonian all of my life, I cherish the stories featured at Dayton History. The team goes to great lengths to inspire the future by helping us learn about our past. BBB is excited to recognize it with our Community Honor as it honors our community day in and day out through its exhibits, reenactments, educational programs and archives,” said John North, president and CEO of the BBB serving Dayton and the Miami Valley.
Brady Kress, Dayton History’s president and CEO, thanked the BBB for the award.
“We have the distinct honor of serving as the guardian and storyteller of our region’s most historically unique people, places and artifacts. Our purpose is to collect and interpret the amazing history of the region, so that it will educate, inspire and possibly amuse future generations. It’s on behalf of the rugged individuals who put their capital at risk and changed the world from Dayton, Ohio that we accept this award,” Kress said.
The public is invited to join us at the Eclipse Integrity Awards to celebrate the efforts of Dayton History. To make your reservations, call (937) 610-2277.
