Boehner, Woolpert chairman to speak at Troy farm forum

House Speaker John Boehner will host Ohio’s 8th Congressional District Farm Forum on Saturday in Troy, according to a media release.

Steve Phipps, board chairman and energy practice leader at Woolpert, will be the keynote speaker at the 24th annual event, which will focus on the impact of new technology on agriculture.

Phipps has played a central role in developing Woolpert’s unmanned aerial systems (UAS) strategy, which includes addressing the needs of precision agriculture in Ohio, company officials said.

Woolpert is a national architectural, engineering and geospatial firm headquartered in Beavercreek.

Jim Zehringer, director of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, will serve as moderator at the event. Panelists include representatives from the NASA Science Mission Directorate; the Ohio-Indiana Unmanned Aircraft Systems Center; CropZilla; and Beck’s Hybrids.

The forum will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Troy Christian Elementary School, 1586 McKaig Ave., Troy. Phipps is expected to speak at noon.
