Bront, WCR Inc. move to Moraine

Both businesses may receive loans subsidizing their relocation.

MORAINE — After 26 years, Bront Machining, a family business started in a Miami Twp. garage, is planning to move from Dayton to Moraine.

Bront and WCR Inc., another business planning to leave Dayton for Moraine, are to receive loans subsidizing their relocation.

The loans, $25,000 to Bront and $20,000 to WCR, are forgivable if the companies maintain payroll figures spelled out in agreements.

“That kind of helped us make a decision,” said Bront President Gary Warlaumont, who started the business in his garage on Loris Drive in Miami Twp. in 1973.

Both companies are moving to larger facilities, officials said.

On Wednesday, Bront was expected to close on purchase of facilities at 2601 W. Dorothy Lane for $1.2 million, officials said. This summer, WCR is expected to move into space at the former General Motors plant at 2601 W. Stroop Road.

“We just didn’t have the type of building or facility they were looking for,” said Tom Biedenharn, spokesman for the city of Dayton. Bront is moving into the former home of Supply One Cabinets & Design, officials said.

Bront, which makes aerospace and medical parts, plans to invest $200,000 in the building and begin moving in phases from 529 Hunter Drive, across from the Kroc Center in Dayton, Warlaumont said.

Bront employs about 20 workers and maintains a $1.6 million payroll. They plan to spend $1.4 million on the building and improvements, Warlaumont said.

Tonight Moraine City Council is to consider resolutions supporting the loans to Bront and WCR, a heat exchanger business.

WCR, which also employs about 20 workers locally, is moving from 221 Crane St. in Dayton, Davis said.

“We’re just excited to have both companies to continue to grow here in the city of Moraine,” Davis said.
