Burlington opening store in Beavercreek this fall

Burlington is expanding again in the area with an upcoming Beavercreek store.

The off-price retailer is opening its second new area store in less that a year this fall, according to a statement. Burlington, formerly Burlington Coat Factory, plans to open 50 new stores this year. It is the 26th store in Ohio.

The nearly 37,000 square-foot store at 2720 Towne Drive in Beavercreek will have new arrivals daily at prices up to 60 percent less than other retailers, according to the statement.

The company opened a location in Huber Heights in March, moving the former Trotwood store. When the Huber Heights store opened, a spokeswoman said it would employ about 40 people.

Burlington has been thriving where other retailers have struggled to keep up with changing consumer shopping habits.

During the first quarter of the year, new and non-comparable stores added $121 million in sales. The company saw strong earnings, with sales increasing 7.4 percent and comparable store sales jumping 0.1 percent.

For the full year, Burlington expects total sales to increase between 8.5 and 9.2 percent and comparable store sales to increase 2 to 3 percent.

Burlington currently has more than 670 stores.
