CVS transforming 1,500 stores to HealthHUBs

More than 1,500 CVS HealthHUBs, which mix retail and services, will launch over the next two years, and the expansion could include local stores.

CVS first launched a HealthHUB pilot in Houston earlier this year in three re-purposed CVS retail locations. The HealthHUBs give 20 percent of retail store space to services, including managing conditions like sleep apnea and diabetes. There are also one-on-one and group counseling with an in-store licensed dietitian and access to a free weight loss digital app.

CVS recently announced that it plans to open 1,500 of the hubs by the end of 2021, starting in Houston, Atlanta, Philadelphia and Tamp this year and continuing with the rest of the nation.

A CVS representative could not confirm or deny whether the HealthHubs would open in the Dayton area, but said the company expects to transform 15 percent of stores in all geographies. More decisions will be made later this year, he said.
